What I expected to be a rather laid-back week, turned into another hectic and waterlogged few days. The boy has had a couple of “off” days, which I’m going to go ahead and attribute to his 2nd year molars coming in and the whole terrible twos transition. Day-to-day, it’s hard to function on not much sleep, but add many more temper tantrums, some media events and appointments into the mix, I felt like I was teetering on having a breakdown yesterday. This juggle thing sure doesn’t get any easier…
Instead of moaning more, how about I share some fun events from LAST weekend. I’ll do a picture recap since, well, my head can only handle so much today
Perhaps you’ve heard, but one of the busiest touristy spots in NYC was recently transitioned into a pedestrian walkway—and we love it! We don’t go to Times Square much, but when we do, it’s utter chaos with the foot and vehicle traffic. But seeing all the cheapy lawn chairs with all the tourists hunkered down taking it all in, was a nice change of pace. The views from those seats, when you take a moment to sit and enjoy, is surely much more enjoyable when you don’t have to dodge mystery puddles and the chaotic traffic.

Jack and I like to pretend to be tourists too:

We were in Times Square to meet the Super Why! characters. Ever since we went behind the scenes at PBS, Jack has fallen in love with these characters. We had to go meet them while they were visiting Toys R Us in Times Square!

And you know, because we can’t go through an entire day without a meltdown lately, of course, Jack pitched a fit because he wasn’t allowed to dance exclusively with the characters. He just could not understand that the characters couldn’t dance with him since other kids wanted to take pictures with them. Oh man.

But a few new toys got his mind off of things! The Super Why! characters were in TRU to promote the launch of their new line of fun toys.

Our summer fun in the City wouldn’t have been complete without a delicious lunch! As our annual tradition, we hit the Big Apple BBQ Block Party in Madison Square Park. This year was as crowded as ever, plus, it rained a bit. It was definitely hard to fully enjoy things while pushing the stroller through a soggy crowd, but we managed. We got our sandwiches, checked out the many booths and made a dash for it to beat the heavy rain.

And just like that, another week is done. We’re looking forward to another fun weekend, this time with a night at the bar with our friends, some cousin fun for Madeline’s birthday, and yes, Father’s Day fun, too! Let’s hope we don’t get too soaked with all this rain they’re calling for this weekend! Happy weekend everyone! And Happy Father’s Day to our dads/grandpa and lolo!
